Pianoforte Club records, 1928-1950.

Records of the Pianoforte Club of Hartford, Connecticut. The club was formed in 1928 by piano instructor R. Augustus Lawson. A longtime pianist, Lawson's studio at the time was in the Brown-Thompson Building on Main Street in Hartford. The volume contains programs from concerts performed over the years, along with meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, correspondence to Lawson, and photographs of some of his students. The first few pages list members of the club, their addresses, and phone numbers. A typed copy of the group's constitution is folded inside as well. Meeting minutes usually mentioned the amount present in the club's bank account. Dues were 50 cents per month.
